Early Times Report
MANDI GOBINDGARH, Apr 29: Faculty of Pharmacy, Desh Bhagat University in observance of World Malaria Day, an awareness programme was organized with the aim of educating the community about the prevention and control of Malaria. The event was aligned with the global theme, "Driven to End Malaria: Now We Can, Now We Must." It focused on encouraging collective action to eliminate malaria through awareness, prevention, and community participation.
The primary objectives of the programme were to educate people about the causes, symptoms, and prevention of malaria; promote the use of preventive measures such as mosquito nets, repellents, and proper sanitation; highlight the importance of early diagnosis and timely treatment; and spread awareness about government and global initiatives aimed at malaria eradication. The programme also aimed to motivate individuals to take responsibility for preventing the spread of the disease.
As part of the celebration, a community outreach visit was conducted in Village Chehal. During the visit, students actively interacted with local residents and provided valuable information about malaria. They emphasized maintaining cleanliness, avoiding stagnant water, and adopting protective measures against mosquito bites. The students also delivered motivational speeches, encouraging villagers to remain vigilant, seek early medical help, and actively participate in community health practices.
The initiative received a positive response from the villagers, who showed keen interest and actively engaged in discussions. The outreach not only enhanced awareness among residents but also encouraged them to adopt healthier practices to prevent malaria.
The programme resulted in increased awareness about malaria and its prevention, improved understanding of hygiene and sanitation, and greater willingness among the community to adopt preventive measures.
The event concluded successfully, reinforcing the importance of collective efforts in combating malaria. It highlighted that with awareness, commitment, and proactive measures, the goal of eliminating malaria is achievable. The message of the theme was strongly conveyed - now we can, and now we must act to end malaria.
The programme was conducted under the motivation and guidance of Dr. Puja Gulati, Director, School of Pharmacy, whose continuous support inspired the successful execution of the event.
