JAMMU, Apr 29: Today on Wednesday, 29th April 2026, Sahitya Akademi New Delhi in collaboration with Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Jammu organised a musical programme "Aavishkar" based on the poems of Kehari Singh Madhukar. The chief guest at the event was Harbinder Kaur, Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Arts, Culture and Languages, Jammu. The event was presided over by Padmashree Mohan Singh, a renowned Dogri literateur and convener of the Dogri Advisory Board at the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi. In his welcome address, he said that the Sahitya Akademi has been committed to the promotion and propagation of all recognized regional languages since its inception. Sahitya Akademi, through its various programmes, be it Gramalok, a platform for poets living in rural and remote areas, Asmita, a platform for promoting women empowerment and encouraging women writers, or providing a platform to young and emerging poets, is promoting regional languages by organizing such programmes throughout the year. In this musical event, renowned artist Bhupinder Singh Jamwal, along with his companions, gave a series of colorful performances, paying tribute to the late Kehari Singh Madhukar, the great poet of Duggar. The audience witnessed firsthand the magic of Madhukar's timeless poetry, which the artists presented in their own unique style. Musician Bhupinder Singh Jambal composed the tunes for Madhukar's songs himself, and his stage accompaniment included singers Nirbhay Salathia, Vishal Gupta, Ravi Raghuvanshi, Mamta Mehra, Chanchal Sharma, and others. Flute player Rakesh, tabla player Sahil Lucky, dholak player Sahil Kumar, and synth player Andrew showcased their skillful skills, bringing the songs to life with their melodies. After the musical program, a documentary was also seen in the celebration of life and literary journey of kehri singh madhukar. It was directed by Padmashree Mohan Singh and produced by Sahitya Akademi New Delhi which was appreciated by renowed dignitaries, poets, and readers etc.
The story of the extraordinary struggles of the life of Madhukar ji in this one hour's document is contained. From the beginning of their literature journey in this short film, their excellent literary life has been highlighted. A vibrant literary festival dedicated to the memory of Madhukar ji emerged. In the end of the program, a book of Dogri writer Shri T.R Magotra was also released.
