GDC Samba organizes Student Discussion Forum on "Swadeshi and Self-Reliant India"

SAMBA, Apr 29: The Shikshit Bharat Committee in collaboration with the Department of Commerce of Shri Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Government Degree College, Samba, successfully organised a Student Discussion Forum on the theme "Swadeshi and Self-Reliant India: Vocal for Local" on April 29, 2026.
The program aimed to create awareness among students about the importance of promoting indigenous products, strengthening the local economy, and fostering the vision of a self-reliant India. The discussion forum witnessed enthusiastic participation of students from diverse streams (Science, Arts and Commerce) who shared their views, ideas, and perspectives on the relevance of the Swadeshi movement in the present economic scenario. The event begins with formal welcome address by Convener Shikshit Bharat Committee Dr. Pooja, HOD Commerce. She also emphasized that Atma Nirbhar Bharat is not about buying Indian products but recognising the hardwork of our local Artisans, small businesses and giving them platform they deserve.
During the session, students from Department of Commerce highlighted the significance of supporting local india, startups India, Digital India, local for global, Production linked Incentives, import Substitution and Make in india. They emphasised how adopting a "Vocal for Local" approach can contribute to sustainable development, employment generation, and economic independence. The discussion also touched upon the role of youth in promoting Indian products and preserving cultural and economic heritage.
Prof. (Dr.) Nirlape Kour worthy Principal of college appreciated the active involvement of students and encouraged them to become responsible consumers and advocates of self-reliance. The forum provided an interactive platform for intellectual exchange and critical thinking. The event was attended by Asstt. Prof. Rashmi Kumari, Asstt.Prof. Chinky Sangral and Asstt. Prof. Nidhi Sharma
The proceeding of the forum and vote of thanks was delivered by Asstt. Prof. Babita Kumari, acknowledging the expert supervision of worthy Principal of the college, efforts of organizing committee, faculty members and participants for making the programme a success.
