Vande Bharat to give fresh boost to Jammu economy: Shiv Sena
4/30/2026 11:06:31 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 30: Shiv Sena (UBT)'s Jammu and Kashmir unit on Wednesday welcomed the operation of the Vande Bharat Express between Jammu and Srinagar, saying the high-speed rail connectivity will provide a major boost to the regional economy, tourism and trade.
Party workers also displayed placards at the state office in Jammu to welcome the initiative.
In a statement, J&K unit chief Manish Sahni said the service comes at a crucial time with the tourist season underway and the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra set to commence shortly.
"The Vande Bharat service will play a vital role in ensuring fast, safe and convenient travel for tourists, pilgrims and other passengers, while also accelerating economic activity in Jammu," Sahni said.
He said the improved connectivity is expected to benefit the hotel industry, transport sector, local markets, small businesses and employment opportunities for youth.
Calling the train a symbol of progress and normalcy, Sahni said it reflects improved connectivity and developmental momentum in Jammu and Kashmir.
However, he stressed that a premium rail service alone is not sufficient and demanded the early introduction of affordable DMU train services between Jammu and Kashmir for the convenience of the common people.
"While Vande Bharat offers speed and comfort, economical and regular rail connectivity is equally essential for the middle class, students, employees, daily wage earners and small traders," he said.
Sahni added that the benefits of infrastructure development must reach every section of society.
