UNNAT NGO Educates Students on HPV Prevention at GHSS Jhiri, Jammu

JAMMU, May 2: UNNAT NGO organized a health awareness programme on HPV vaccination for the prevention of cervical cancer at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Jhiri Jammu. The initiative aimed to educate students, parents, and the local community about the importance of early vaccination in safeguarding the health of young girls. On this occasion, Principal of the School, Kasturi lal Verma was the Chief Guest in the program and Dr Anuradha Treasurer Unnat NGO presided over the function.
The programme was conducted under the supervision of NGO General Secretary Neena Abrol, who highlighted the growing need for awareness regarding cervical cancer prevention. She emphasized that timely vaccination against Human Papillomavirus (HPV) can significantly reduce the risk of cervical cancer among women.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Anuradha urged parents, especially those with 14-year-old daughters, to ensure vaccination at the nearest healthcare centre. She stressed that prevention through vaccination is a crucial step towards building a healthier future for the younger generation.
Speaking on this occasion, Kasturi lal Verma said that Unnat NGO is doing a very good job. He said that today a health awareness program was organized in our school in which children were made aware of various diseases and we wish that in future also Unnat NGO will keep organizing such programs in our school to continue awareness about health education imperative for the children besides academic studies, he added.
The session included informative discussions on the causes, risks, and prevention of cervical cancer, along with guidance on accessing vaccination facilities. On this occasion, prominent persons and other locals of the areas were also present in the program, including Darshana Singh, Shallu Abrol, Anjna Sethi, Neeru, Vandna Abrol, Kanchan, Ashwani Dubey and others.
