DAJ reviews availability of fertilizers in Billawar

JAMMU, May 2: Director Agriculture Jammu (DAJ) Anil Gupta today conducted an extensive field visit to Billawar Subdivision of Kathua district to assess the position of fertilizer availability on the ground and review ongoing agricultural activities and interventions aimed at strengthening the farming sector.
The Director Agriculture was accompanied by DAO (Extension) Raj Singh; SDAO Ravi Sharma; SMS SDL Rakesh Sharma; Enforcement Inspector Anil Kumar along with other officers and field staff of the department.
During the visit, Director Anil Gupta conducted a surprise inspection of input dealers in the Sub Division Billawar including Gupta Multipurpose Fertilizer Store located at Amuala, Tehsil Ramkot, Sub Division Billawar, Zone Nagrota Gujroo. He thoroughly checked the availability and quality of fertilizers and other agricultural inputs and reviewed adherence to prescribed norms and regulations.
Speaking on the occasion, Anil Gupta reiterated the department's commitment to ensuring timely availability of quality inputs to farmers. He issued strict directions to field functionaries to intensify monitoring of input dealers, ensure transparency in distribution and create awareness among farmers regarding the judicious use of fertilizers and adoption of integrated nutrient management practices.
The Director also instructed fertilizer dealers to strictly avoid misuse or unnecessary stocking of fertilizers. He warned that any lapse including improper maintenance of records, would invite strict action under rules. He further directed that stock and rate lists must be prominently displayed and proper records maintained at all times in accordance with government guidelines.
Later, Director Agriculture inspected a Vermicompost Unit established at Narshing Ghoshalla, Khoon. He reviewed its functioning and interacted with stakeholders regarding production processes and quality parameters.
Subsequently, Anil Gupta visited a Hi-Tech Polyhouse in Khoon, where he assessed the cultivation of high-value crops under protected conditions. He appreciated the efforts of the farmer in adopting modern agricultural technologies.
The visit concluded with a review of field-level implementation of various departmental schemes. The Director instructed officers to maintain close coordination with farmers and ensure effective and timely delivery of services at the grassroots level.
