Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, May 2: As part of ongoing efforts to promote a drug-free society, a series of awareness programmes were organised across various educational institutions and departments in Udhampur district. Government Degree College Majalta organized an awareness programme on Nasha Mukti campaign with the objective of sensitizing students to the harmful effects of substance abuse and encouraging a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. The programme highlighted the physical, psychological and social consequences of addiction, motivating students to adopt responsible behaviour and act as ambassadors of positive change within society. Meanwhile, Government Degree College Udhampur organised an expert lecture on the theme Gateway Drugs. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Piyali Arora, Head of the Department of Psychology as the resource person. Dr. Arora provided an insightful and comprehensive overview of gateway drugs, elaborating on their types, impact on individuals and society and strategies for prevention. She emphasized the importance of awareness and early intervention in effectively addressing substance abuse. |
