Mandi Gobindgarh, May 2: The Department of Business Management and Commerce at Desh Bhagat University, in partnership with the Innovation Mission Punjab Campus Ambassador and DBU Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), marked World Creativity and Innovation Day with enthusiasm and strong student participation. Held under the theme “Harnessing Creativity for Global Progress,” the event spotlighted innovation’s power to drive a sustainable, inclusive future. Dr. Tavneet K. Reen, Assistant Professor, opened the program with a warm welcome to the dignitaries. Chief guests included Dr. Zora Singh, Hon’ble Chancellor, and Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Pro-Chancellor. Other distinguished attendees were Dr. Sandeep Singh, President; Dr. Gagandeep Kaur and Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, Vice Chancellors; Dr. Gurdip Singh Batra, Pro Vice Chancellor (RDC); Dr. Nidhi Gupta, Director; Dr. Dinesh, Convenor, DBU IIC; and Dr. Baldeep Singh, Department Coordinator, DBU IIC. Dr. Dinesh kicked off the formal proceedings with a welcome address. He stressed nurturing creativity in students to tackle global challenges, noting that innovation spans technology, ideas, perspectives, and approaches that spark real societal change. He urged attendees to embrace curiosity, critical thinking, and adaptability. Dr. Zora Singh praised the initiative, tying it to the theme. He called creativity the bedrock of progress across fields and insisted educational institutions must nurture innovative ideas. Global advancement, he added, hinges on young minds that think creatively and act responsibly. Guest speaker PDG Amjad Ali, CEO of Carewel International Inc., offered insights on global innovation. He explained how creativity powers entrepreneurship and economic growth in a competitive landscape, highlighting adaptability, leadership, and lifelong learning. He challenged students to turn ideas into practical solutions for real-world problems. Mr. Ashish Mehta, COO of Innovation Mission Punjab, discussed creativity’s role in business. He showed how innovation, paired with strategic planning, yields lasting success, and advised building problem-solving skills, critical thinking, openness to ideas, collaboration, and strong execution. Dr. Nidhi Gupta, Director of the Department of Business Management and Commerce, closed with a vote of thanks. She thanked the speakers, organizers, and participants for a resounding success, crediting the team’s efforts and students’ energy. Participants left inspired by the insights gained.
