True knowledge of God comes through Vedic study and reasoning: Swami Ram Swarup Ji
Urges devotees to verify spiritual beliefs through Vedic evidence and follow eternal Vedic path

Early Times Report
YOL (HIMACHAL PRADESH), June 12: On the 62nd day of the ongoing 78-day Yajna dedicated to the study and recitation of all four Vedas at Ved Mandir, Yol, renowned Vedic scholar and Yoga Acharya Swami Ram Swarup Ji delivered a spiritual discourse, urging devotees to rely on Vedic wisdom, rational thinking, and scriptural evidence while understanding the nature of God and religious practices.
Addressing the gathering, Swami Ram Swarup Ji said that human beings have been blessed by God with intellect and the ability to think and reason. Therefore, he emphasized, people should not blindly accept anyone as a divine authority or spiritual guide merely based on popular belief or hearsay.
Referring to the teachings of Maharishi Patanjali in Yoga Sutra 1/7, he explained that every belief and principle must be supported by valid evidence, and in matters of spirituality, such evidence should come from the Vedas. He stated that any claim regarding God and worship must be examined in the light of Vedic teachings before being accepted as truth.
Swami Ji cited the commonly held belief that God can be worshipped in many forms according to individual preference. He observed that such interpretations have led to the worship of numerous forms and entities across society. However, he asserted that if such a belief is to be accepted as Vedic truth, it must be supported by Vedic mantras.
He stated that no mantra in any of the four Vedas endorses the idea of multiple forms of God. On the contrary, he explained that Atharvaveda (Kanda 13, Sukta 4), along with teachings found throughout the other three Vedas, declares that God is One, was One in the past, remains One in the present, and will always remain One.
According to Swami Ram Swarup Ji, the emergence of diverse concepts regarding the worship of God in the present age has led many people away from the original Vedic path. He remarked that several forms of worship that are prevalent today did not exist during the earlier Yugas and are not supported by Vedic teachings.
Quoting Vedic principles, he explained that God is not two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, or nine, but One Supreme Being. There was no other God besides Him in the past, there is none at present, and there will never be another in the future.
Swami Ji urged devotees to return to the eternal Vedic tradition of worship that has been followed since ancient times. He advised seekers to first study the Vedas to understand the true nature and attributes of God and then undertake worship based on that knowledge. He stressed that genuine spiritual progress can be achieved only through Vedic study, self-reflection, and adherence to eternal truth.A large number of devotees attended the discourse and participated in the ongoing Vedic Yajna being conducted at Ved Mandir, Yol.
