| KVK Reasi promotes sustainable farming among tribal farmers under Khet Bachao Abhiyan | | | Early Times Report
REASI, June 16: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Reasi uder the aegis of SKUAST-J organised the Khet Bachao Abhiyan (Save the Farm Campaign) here today at tribal village Jadh which was enthusiastically attended by number of tribal women farmers/farmers of the area.
The programmes were organised under the able guidance of Vice Chancellor, Prof. B.N. Tripathi and Director Extension, Prof. Amrish Vaid of SKUAST-J. The campaign received an overwhelming response from the farming community. The campaign aims to guide farmers on sustainable farming, judicious use of fertilizers, organic and natural farming, green manuring etc. Dr. Banarsi Lal, Chief Scientist & Head, KVK Reasi spoke on need to restore the soil health, organic farming and natural farming and stressed on efficient agricultural practices for more farm returns.
He also guided participants on soil health management for more profits and quality farm produce. He also spoke in detail on balanced use of ferilizers and highlighted Integrated Nutrients Management (INM) and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in various crops. He also discussed on commercial farming and elaborated scientific farming of various vegetables crops. He suggested medicinal and aromatic plants farming especially in monkeys prone areas. He also stressed on quality seed and planting material for more profits. He also guided farmers on different agricultural schemes such as HADP, PM-KISAN, KCC, PMFBY etc. and encouraged farmers to take advantages of such schemes to enhance their crops productivity and income. Earlier Rakesh Kundal, FPO Development Officer, Reasi warmly welcomed the participants and stressed on Self Help Groups (SHGs)/Farmers Producer Organisation (FPOs) for more farm profits. He also guided participants on various employment schemes.He also guided farmers on Integrated Nutrients Management (INM) in various crops. He also guided participants on climate resilient agriculture and stressed on new agricultural innovations for more farm returns. He emphasised on commercial farming for more profits. He also spoke on entrepreneurship development in agriculture and upgraded the knowledge of the farmers on natural farming.
He stressed on diversification in agriculture for more farm returns. Farmer-scientist interactions programmes were also organised during which the participants asked various quarries which were answered satisfactorily by the experts. Farmers appreciated the efforts of KVK Reasi and responded that such programmes are very useful to increase their knowledge and skills especially on balanced use of fertilizers. The programme was concluded by Rakesh Kundal with formal vote of thanks. |
