SHIMLA, July 26: Army Training Command (ARTRAC) in Shimla on Sunday commemorated the 27th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, paying tribute to the sacrifice of the soldiers who defended the nation's sovereignty during Operation Vijay in 1999.
The commemorative ceremony commenced at the Shradhanjali Sthal at Annandale, where General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Army Training Command (ARTRAC) Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma laid a wreath on behalf of all ranks to honour the fallen heroes.
A two-minute silence was observed as the buglers sounded the solemn notes of the 'Last Post', a statement issued here said.
The army commander said that the spirit and legacy of the Kargil heroes continue to serve as a perpetual beacon of inspiration, reinforcing the Army's commitment toward safeguarding the country's unity, integrity and sovereignty.
He also visited the Army Heritage Museum at Annandale. The museum showcases the courage and sacrifices of Indian soldiers across generations.
