UDHAMPUR, July 26: Chief Engineer, Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED), J&K, Er. Samiullah Beigh, today conducted a comprehensive inspection of the sewerage management schemes in Udhampur district to review the functioning of the Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) and the progress of post-flood restoration works.
The Chief Engineer was accompanied by the Superintending Engineer, UEED Jammu, Executive Engineers, Assistant Executive Engineers, field engineers, and representatives of the executing contractors.
During the inspection, the Chief Engineer was briefed that all Sewage Treatment Plants are operational and functioning satisfactorily. However, certain blockades and obstructions in portions of the sewerage network, caused by recent floods, require immediate rectification.
Er. Beigh personally inspected the on-ground functioning of the STPs and reviewed the affected sewer lines. He directed the engineers and contractors to undertake immediate remedial measures and ensure that all blockades are cleared and the entire sewerage network, along with the STPs, is restored to full functionality within a strict, time-bound schedule.
Emphasising the importance of efficient sewerage infrastructure for environmental protection and public health, the Chief Engineer instructed the field officers to closely monitor the restoration works, maintain quality standards, and ensure uninterrupted operation of the sewerage system. He stressed that no laxity would be tolerated in the execution of restoration works and directed all concerned to work in close coordination for their expeditious completion. |
