DC Ramban inspects Pernote Landslide and Subsidence area; Directs expedited restoration of Ramban-Gool Road
7/26/2026 10:25:00 PM
Early Times Report
RAMBAN, July 26: Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan, today visited the landslide and subsidence-affected area at Pernote on the Ramban-Gool Road to assess the damage caused by recent heavy rainfall and review the ongoing restoration works. Senior Superintendent of Police Arun Gupta, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Shokat Hayat Mattoo and other concerned officers accompanied the Deputy Commissioner during the inspection.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the restoration works being undertaken by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) on the nearly 300-metre stretch of the Ramban-Gool Road that has suffered major subsidence, severely affecting the vital road connectivity between Ramban and Gool.
Interacting with the officers at the site, the DC reviewed the progress of restoration works. He was informed that restoration operations are underway on a war footing with the deployment of adequate manpower and heavy machinery to clear debris and restore the damaged road stretch.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the executing agency to further accelerate the restoration works by deploying additional machinery and manpower to ensure the early restoration of traffic on the affected road. He also took up the matter with senior BRO officials and stressed the need for expeditious completion of the restoration work in view of the importance of the road for the local population.
Emphasising public safety, the Deputy Commissioner appealed to the residents and commuters to avoid visiting or moving close to the subsidence-affected area, as the ground remains unstable and vulnerable to further sliding. He urged the public to cooperate with the concerned agencies engaged in the restoration operations.
The district administration in coordination with the BRO and other line departments is closely monitoring the situation and is committed to ensuring public safety and the early restoration of normal traffic movement on the Ramban-Gool Road.
