Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 27: Welcoming the Bharatiya Janata Party's nationwide "Guru Ravidass Ji Maharaj Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan" to be organised from 29 July 2026 to 20 February 2027 (Guru Ravidass Jayanti) to mark the 650th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji, BJP spokesperson, National General Secretary of the British Ravidasia Heritage Foundation (BRHF) and a devotee of Guru Ravidass, Balbir Ram Rattan, said that the campaign would prove to be a historic initiative in taking Guru Ravidass Ji's timeless message of equality, social justice, humanity and brotherhood to every corner of the country.
Balbir Ram Rattan said that centuries ago Guru Ravidass raised his voice against caste discrimination, social inequality and untouchability, envisioning a society where every individual enjoys equal dignity, opportunity and rights. His philosophy of "Begampura" continues to inspire the ideals of social harmony, equality and a just social order even today.
He said that launching the campaign from Kashi, the birthplace of Guru Ravidass Ji, is both highly symbolic and inspiring. During the seven-month-long campaign, programmes based on the life, teachings and ideals of Guru Ravidass Ji will be organised across different states of the country, enabling the younger generation to become better acquainted with his thoughts and philosophy.
Balbir further said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government has taken several significant steps to honour the legacy of saints, great personalities and social reformers while strengthening social harmony. The nationwide campaign being launched on the occasion of Guru Ravidass Ji's 650th Prakash Parv is a strong reflection of that commitment.
He appealed to all sections of society, particularly the youth, social organisations, religious institutions and educational institutions, to actively participate in the campaign. He said that if people embrace Guru Ravidass Ji's message of equality, service, harmony and humanity in their daily lives, the goal of building a more inclusive, just and stronger India will be further strengthened.
