Chandigarh, July 30: In a major initiative to combat drug abuse and channel the energy of young people towards nation-building, Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi will launch the Nashamukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat – Sankalp Abhiyaan at the national level on August 2, 2026. Lakhs of young people from Haryana will join the campaign virtually, take the pledge for a drug-free society, and contribute to transforming the initiative into a statewide people’s movement.
The state-level event in Haryana will be organised at the historic and sacred city of Kurukshetra, where Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event will witness the participation of a large number of youth, students, representatives of educational institutions, voluntary organisations, youth clubs, and other stakeholders from across the state.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi will virtually connect with programmes being organised at nearly 10,000 locations across the country and address more than one crore young people, calling upon them to lead the movement for a drug-free India and embrace a healthy, disciplined, and responsible lifestyle.

The campaign will be undertaken under the guidance and with the full support of Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini, with a strong focus on ensuring its success. The State Government will make concerted efforts to secure maximum participation of young people throughout the duration of the campaign. Under the Chief Minister’s leadership, the youth of Haryana will actively join this decisive movement against drug abuse with enthusiasm, commitment, and a shared resolve to build a drug-free society.
Education Minister Sh Mahipal Dhanda will also extend his full support to the campaign, further strengthening its outreach and impact. The Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, under the leadership of Minister of State Sh Gaurav Gautam, will serve as the nodal agency for the campaign. The Department will be responsible for ensuring all necessary arrangements, facilitating coordination among various departments and stakeholders, and overseeing the effective implementation of the campaign throughout its duration to achieve its intended objectives.
