RS PURA, July 30: The NCC Units (Boys & Girls) of Government Degree College (GDC), R.S. Pura in collaboration with the 8 J&K Girls Battalion NCC organised a Tree Plantation Drive under the theme "Ek Ped Apni Maa Ke Naam" as part of the Social Service and Community Development (SSCD) activity in the college premises. The programme was organised under the esteemed patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Preetpal Kour, Principal of the College with the objective of promoting environmental conservation and creating awareness among students about the importance of sustainable living. The plantation drive was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Kiran Lata, CTO, 8 J&K Girls Battalion NCC with enthusiastic participation from NCC cadets. The cadets planted saplings at various locations across the campus demonstrating their commitment to environmental conservation and contributing towards the development of a greener and healthier campus. Faculty members also actively participated in the plantation drive and joined the NCC cadets in planting saplings, reflecting the collective commitment of the college community towards environmental protection and sustainability. The NCC cadets also prepared informative posters highlighting the importance of tree plantation, environmental conservation and sustainable practices, thereby spreading awareness among students about the need to protect and preserve nature.

She also encouraged the cadets to develop a lasting sense of environmental responsibility and to continue participating in such meaningful initiatives for the welfare of society. The plantation drive aimed to sensitise students to the importance of environmental protection while inspiring them to plant and nurture trees as a tribute to their mothers in keeping with the spirit of the nationwide campaign "Ek Ped Apni Maa Ke Naam."
