Congress Disrespects India's Heritage: Adv Devraj Sharma
7/30/2026 10:49:28 PM
Early Times Report
RS PURA, July 30: Senior BJP leader and former Sarpanch, Advocate Devraj Sharma, on Thursday launched a sharp attack on Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra over her reported remarks on cow urine and Dr. V. Kamakoti, alleging that they reflected the Congress party's "deep-rooted disregard" for India's civilisational heritage, cultural values and indigenous knowledge systems. In a statement issued here, Sharma said that mocking cow urine and making light of the observations made by Dr. V. Kamakoti was not merely an attack on an individual but an insult to India's centuries-old traditions and knowledge systems that have guided society for generations.
He alleged that the Gandhi family has consistently failed to appreciate and uphold India's rich cultural and spiritual legacy. "The repeated ridicule of India's traditional knowledge systems clearly demonstrates that the Gandhi family has never genuinely respected Indian culture and civilisation. If there is so little regard for traditions rooted in our civilisation, one can well imagine their respect for the Vedas, Upanishads and other revered scriptures that have shaped India's moral, philosophical and spiritual foundations for thousands of years," Sharma said.
Referring to Dr. V. Kamakoti, Sharma said that scientists and academicians should be engaged through reasoned debate rather than mocked for expressing views or discussing traditional knowledge. "Differences in opinion should be addressed through scientific discourse and evidence, not sarcasm or political ridicule," he said.
The BJP leader further claimed that cow urine has attracted scientific interest internationally and pointed out that two patents relating to its applications have been granted in the United States. According to him, this demonstrated that traditional Indian knowledge has received global attention and deserves objective scientific examination rather than mockery.
"It is ironic that while researchers across the world are studying various aspects of India's traditional knowledge, some political leaders in our own country choose to ridicule it for political convenience. India's ancient wisdom should be a matter of pride and research, not derision," Sharma remarked.
Taking exception to Priyanka Gandhi's speech, Sharma alleged that it reflected political opportunism rather than genuine concern for students."The manner in which she delivered her speech made it abundantly clear that the Congress leadership had little concern for students. Instead of offering constructive solutions to their problems, the speech appeared designed to extract political mileage by attacking the government," he alleged.
Sharma said India's civilisational heritage, traditional knowledge systems and ancient scriptures have earned respect across the world because of their enduring relevance. He urged political leaders to refrain from making remarks that hurt the sentiments of people and instead encourage informed debate and scientific research.
Reiterating the BJP's commitment to preserving and promoting India's cultural and civilisational heritage, Sharma said the country's ancient traditions, indigenous knowledge systems and spiritual values continue to inspire millions and deserve respect, recognition and objective study rather than political mockery.
