Chief Secretary, Kundra reviews expansion plan and ongoing works at Thoise airport

LEH, July 31: Chief Secretary, Ladakh, Ashish Kundra, on the second day of his tour to Nubra District, reviewed key developmental projects and inspected public infrastructure at Bogdang and Turtuk. He was accompanied by Administrative Secretary, Planning, Development and Monitoring Department (PD&MD), Himanshu Gupta; Station Commander, Air Force Station Thoise, Pranay Kumar; Deputy Commissioner, Nubra; SSP, Nubra; Heads of Departments and other concerned officers.
During the visit, the Chief Secretary reviewed the land identified for the proposed expansion of Thoise Airport and assessed the status of the project. He directed the concerned departments to expedite all necessary formalities and ensure close coordination among stakeholders to facilitate the timely execution of the expansion project.
Emphasising the importance of timely implementation, the Chief Secretary instructed that a dedicated four-member team be constituted to prepare a comprehensive, step-by-step action plan for the project. He directed that the plan be submitted at the earliest to facilitate effective coordination and the timely execution of the airport expansion works.
The Chief Secretary also inspected the airport runway and reviewed the progress of ongoing developmental works. Officer Raghav Gautam delivered a detailed presentation on the proposed land transfer for the Civil Terminal through maps, outlining the project layout and land requirements.
Reviewing the existing infrastructure, the Chief Secretary inspected the waiting area for Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and their families, airline facilities, and security checkpoints. He directed the concerned officers to ensure the development of essential public amenities, including washrooms, borewells for water supply, and other necessary passenger facilities at the airport.
