SKUAST-Jammu Achieves 100% Seat Filling in First Round of Admissions

JAMMU, July 31: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu) has achieved 100 per cent seat occupancy during the first round of counselling for admissions to its Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) programmes, reflecting the University's growing academic reputation and the increasing preference of students for professional education in agriculture and allied sciences. The counselling process was completed well ahead of schedule under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. B. N. Tripathi, ensuring a transparent, efficient and student-centric admission process. The University witnessed an overwhelming response from aspiring candidates, with flagship programmes attracting a large number of applicants.
The highest demand was witnessed for Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.), B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture, B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture, and B.Tech. Biotechnology. Professional programmes such as B.Tech. Agricultural Engineering and B.Tech. Dairy Technology also drew significant interest, highlighting the growing inclination of students towards career-oriented programmes in agriculture and allied sectors. The newly introduced B.Sc. (Hons.) Life Sciences programme also received an enthusiastic response, indicating students' confidence in the University's efforts to introduce contemporary and industry-relevant academic programmes that cater to emerging opportunities in higher education, research and innovation. The Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. B. N. Tripathi personally monitored the counselling process and directed the admission authorities to extend every possible assistance to candidates affected by adverse weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances. Emphasising that merit must remain the sole criterion for admission, he instructed the counselling committee to ensure complete transparency, fairness and equal opportunity for every eligible candidate.
