Lady drug peddlers arrested with 100 grams heroin like substance

SAMBA, Aug 1: In a major breakthrough in its sustained campaign against drug trafficking, Samba Police has arrested two lady drug peddlers and recovered approximately 100 grams of heroin-like substance (Chitta) from their possession within the jurisdiction of Police Station Vijaypur.
Acting promptly on reliable information, a police team from Police Station Vijaypur launched a swift operation and intercepted two women pedestrians on Tarapur Road who were moving towards the Vijaypur side under suspicious circumstances. During frisking, approximately 100 grams of heroin-like substance (Chitta) was recovered from their possession.
The lady drug peddlers identified as Noora Jan W/o Mohd Yaqoob @ Yooqa D/o Masoom Ali R/o Sarore and Noor Jahan W/o Mohd Yaqoob @ Yooqa D/o Miya Bashir R/o Rakh Barotian, both presently residing at Rahya tehsil Vijaypur district Samba have been arrested and the contraband item has also been seized on the spot by the police.
A case FIR No. 133/2026 u/s 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Vijaypur and investigation started to ascertain the forward and backward linkages so that the entire drug network involved can be unearthed.
During the course of investigation, it has also come to light that Mohd Yaqoob @ Yooqa, the husband of both accused, is a notorious drug peddler and is involved in 17 cases under the NDPS Act and other criminal offences registered at various police stations in the districts of Jammu, Samba and Reasi. Investigation is also underway to examine his linkages with the objective of exposing the entire drug network.
SSP Samba reiterated that District Police Samba remains fully committed to its relentless war against drugs and will continue to take stringent action against drug peddlers and traffickers to make the district drug-free. He emphasized that no individual involved in narcotics-related activities will be spared under the law.
