No safe haven for drug peddlers: Reasi police apprehends four persons; heroin recovered

REASI, Aug 1: Continuing its sustained and uncompromising drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse, Reasi Police has achieved yet another significant success under its zero-tolerance policy against narcotics, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to dismantling drug networks
During the intervening night of 31/07/2026, a police party of Police Station Katra was on routine patrolling duty in Katra town when they noticed four persons sitting together at a secluded place near yog Ashram Katra and smoking under suspicious circumstances. Acting promptly, the police questioned the individuals about their where abouts who disclosed their identities as:
1. Vasu Malhotra, S/o Ravinder Malhotra, R/o Akhnoor
2. Rohit Singh, S/o Dhanater Singh, R/o Chandian, Akhnoor
3. Sushil Sharma, S/o Ashok Kumar, R/o Jandyal Kot, Bhalwal
4. Vishal Singh, S/o Dhanater Singh, R/o Chandian, Akhnoor
During the personal search, approximately 2.7 grams of heroin (Chitta), along with a polythene pouch, was recovered from the possession of Vasu Malhotra and Rohit Singh.
Accordingly, FIR No. 263/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra, and investigation into the case is underway to ascertain the source and forward linkages of the recovered contraband.
Reasi Police remains steadfast in its commitment to eradicate the drug menace from society and appeals to the public to cooperate with the police by sharing any information related to drug trafficking or substance abuse.
