REASI, Sept 9: In a swift and significant breakthrough, demonstrating professional competence and unwavering determination, District Police Reasi has successfully apprehended all four accused involved in the violent assault case reported at Bhambla. While one accused was apprehended shortly after the incident, the remaining three accused were tracked down and arrested from Jalandhar, Punjab, following a relentless pursuit by the Reasi Police.
It is pertinent to mention that on September 4, 2026, at around 1600 hours, FIR No. 51/2026 under Sections 109, 332(c), 115(2), 351(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Police Station Pouni.
As per the FIR, four persons armed with lathis forcibly entered the shop of an individual situated near the petrol pump at Bhambla. The accused allegedly assaulted the victim, Sachin Puri, causing him serious injuries, and subsequently fled from the spot after threatening him with dire consequences.
One of the accused, Kartik Uppal, resident of Rah Salyote, District Reasi, was apprehended shortly after the incident. However, the remaining three accused fled outside the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in an attempt to evade arrest.
Taking serious note of the incident, SSP Reasi constituted a dedicated special team to trace and apprehend the absconding accused. Demonstrating exceptional dedication and professionalism, the team launched a multi-pronged operation involving extensive raids, advanced technical surveillance and robust on-ground human intelligence.
Multiple raids were conducted at suspected locations within District Reasi, elsewhere in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, and outside the UT. The sustained efforts of the police team ultimately led to the successful tracing and arrest of all three absconding accused from Jalandhar, Punjab. The arrested accused have been identified as:
1. Shubham Sharma, S/o Rattan Lal, R/o Godhar, Tehsil Pouni, District Reasi.
2. Mohit Sharma, S/o Rattan Lal, R/o Godhar, Tehsil Pouni, District Reasi.
3. Anmol Sudan, S/o Romesh Chander, R/o Rah Salyote, Tehsil Chowki Choura, Jammu.
The entire operation was led by PSI Amit Sharma, under the supervision of Inspector Ravinder Singh, SHO Pouni, and DySP SOG Pouni Ms. Smriti Sharma.
The decisive and tireless efforts of Reasi Police have been widely appreciated by members of the local community, further reaffirming public confidence and trust in law enforcement.
Reasi Police reiterates its zero-tolerance policy towards crime and criminal elements and firmly affirms that offenders cannot escape the grip of the law, irrespective of where they attempt to hide.
