Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Sept 9: Rajya Sabha MP Er. Gulam Ali Khatana today lauded India's impressive economic performance, stating that the country is achieving unprecedented milestones under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji. Referring to the latest Gross Domestic Product (GDP) data showing a 7.8% real growth rate in Q1 (April-June) of FY 2026-27, the MP said India continues to firmly strengthen its position as the world's fastest-growing major economy.
Khatana said the remarkable growth reflects a balanced economic approach in which multiple sectors are contributing simultaneously to the country's transformation. He highlighted key areas driving India's economic momentum, including Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence, Manufacturing and Clean Mobility, Infrastructure and Connectivity, Renewable Energy, and Banking and Financial Technology.
Information Technology & AI: India has emerged as a major digital hub, with advanced technology, cloud services and AI-driven innovation creating new opportunities for skilled employment. The expanding Global Capability Centre (GCC) ecosystem is further strengthening India's position in the global technology landscape.
Manufacturing & Clean Mobility: The MP said supportive government policies and the focus on domestic production have strengthened India's manufacturing capabilities. He noted that the sector's strong performance, coupled with rapid growth in clean technology and electric mobility, is contributing significantly to economic expansion.
Infrastructure & Connectivity: Khatana highlighted the rapid development of highways, bridges, railways and other major infrastructure projects, stating that sustained public capital expenditure has strengthened connectivity, generated employment and stimulated demand across sectors.
Renewable Energy: The MP said India is making rapid progress towards a clean-energy future, with significant additions to solar and wind capacity. He said initiatives such as the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana are accelerating the country's transition towards green and sustainable energy.
Banking & Financial Technology: Khatana also highlighted the transformation of India's financial ecosystem through digital payments, banking reforms and financial technology. He said the strong performance of financial and professional services reflects the growing strength, transparency and efficiency of India's financial system.
The MP said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji's unique ability to empower both rural communities and businesses has contributed to broad-based economic stability. He stated that the government's focus on Atmanirbharta and self-reliance has strengthened India's resilience against global challenges, including fuel price volatility and disruptions in international supply chains.
Expressing confidence in India's continued economic journey, Khatana said that the country's sustained growth is a reflection of the decisive leadership, visionary policies and development-oriented governance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji, laying a strong foundation for a prosperous, self-reliant and secure Viksit Bharat.
