Dr Farooq, Omar Abdullah pay rich tributes to Shaheed Mushtaq Ahmad Lone

SRINAGAR, Sept 10: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Thursday paid rich tributes to the party's senior leader and former Minister of State for Home Affairs Shaheed Mushtaq Ahmad Lone on his 24th death anniversary.
In their message, they said that Late Mushtaq Ahmad Lone was a distinguished legal expert, a noble and soft-spoken personality who discharged his responsibilities and rendered public service with utmost honesty and dedication.
Party General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar and Additional General Secretary Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan also paid rich tributes to the late leader and said that his unforgettable and commendable political and social services would continue to serve as a source of inspiration for all.
Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather, party Treasurer Shammi Oberoi, Chief Minister's Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, Provincial President Kashmir Advocate Showkat Ahmad Mir, senior leaders Mian Altaf Ahmad, Mohammad Shafi Uri, Sharif-ud-Din Shariq, Mubarak Gul, Mohammad Akbar Lone, Ministers Sakina Itoo, Javed Dar, MLAs Mir Saifullah, Dr Sajjad Shafi Uri, State Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar also paid tributes to the late leader and recalled his unforgettable political, social and national services. They said that Late Mushtaq Ahmad Lone was a devout Muslim and a true patriot. His martyrdom was a major loss to the National Conference, which could never be fully compensated.
It may be recalled that a commemorative function will be held on 11 Sept 2026 at the grave of Late Mushtaq Ahmad Lone at Sogam, Lolab, in connection with his death anniversary. Quran Khwani will be held early in the morning, followed by a collective Fateh Khwani and floral tributes. Party leaders will pay homage to the departed leader. The death anniversary of his elder brother, Khwaja Mohi-ud-Din Lone, is also being observed on the same day, with Fateh Khwani and floral tributes to be offered at his grave as well.
