| Job Fairs | | | During the past few months District Employment & Counselling Centre across Jammu and Kashmir have organized multiple job fairs to provide an opportunity to aspirants to get suitable offers and employment. Reputed employers, including big companies have attended these fairs and many eligible youth, stand adjusted in corporate houses. Employers reaching out to the job aspirants is a big step towards telling the unemployed youth that the government cares for them and supports them in their endeavours. Recruitment fairs help in building a trust between the people and the helmsmen. It’s an established fact that everyone cannot get a government job and private sector has to step in. The private sector has a crucial role to play in generating employment, encouraging innovation and strengthening the regional economy. Corporate houses, industries, start-ups and emerging businesses can collectively create opportunities for thousands of young people if the right environment is provided. Unemployment remains one of the major concerns among the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. Thousands of educated young people complete their degrees, diplomas and professional courses every year, aspiring to build secure and respectable careers. However, limited vacancies in the government sector and the growing number of qualified candidates have made the competition for public employment increasingly intense. In this situation, creating awareness about private-sector opportunities and facilitating direct interaction between employers and job seekers have become essential. The job fairs organised by the Employment and Counselling Centres are a step in the right direction. They provide a common platform where candidates can explore available vacancies, present their qualifications and interact directly with recruiters. For many aspirants, such opportunities reduce the uncertainty associated with job hunting and help them understand the expectations of the corporate world. The presence of reputed companies also lends credibility to these initiatives and encourages young people to look beyond conventional employment choices. There is also a need to align skill-development programmes with the changing requirements of the employment market. Training in information technology, tourism, healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing and other growing sectors can improve the employability of local youth. Special attention should be given to candidates from remote and economically weaker areas so that opportunities are not confined to urban centres. Jammu and Kashmir possesses considerable human potential. What its youth require is a supportive ecosystem that combines education, skills, entrepreneurship and employment opportunities. Job fairs can serve as an effective bridge between talent and industry, provided they are organised consistently and backed by genuine placement support. |
