Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Oct 27: Continuing its efforts to prevent road accidents and ensure road safety, District Police Udhampur has launched a special drive against traffic violations across the district. Special nakas have been established at various locations in Udhampur town and rural areas to identify and take action against traffic violators.
During the last three days, District Police Udhampur issued 656 challans and seized 101 vehicles for various traffic violations. The drive particularly focuses on old commercial vehicles operating without valid fitness certificates, proper permits and other mandatory documents. School buses are also being checked to ensure compliance with prescribed safety norms and mandatory documentation.
Overloading in passenger vehicles, especially those plying from far-flung areas such as Pancheri, Ramnagar, Basantgarh Latti etc. is also being strictly monitored. Other violations, including riding two-wheelers without helmets, triple riding, and rash and negligent driving, are being targeted to prevent road accidents and safeguard precious human lives.
All territorial officers are personally monitoring the drive to ensure strict enforcement of traffic rules across the district.
District Police Udhampur appeals to all vehicle owners, particularly owners of commercial vehicles and school buses to ensure that their vehicles possess valid fitness certificates, proper permits and all other mandatory documents before plying on roads. Parents are also urged to ensure that school buses transporting their children comply with all safety requirements.
