Early Times Report
LUCKNOW, Oct 30: More than 2.24 crore farmers in Uttar Pradesh on Friday received Rs 4,482.19 crore as a fresh instalment under the PM-KISAN scheme. The amount was credited to the bank accounts of beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme through direct benefit transfer, the state government said in a statement. Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 24th instalment of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi from Banaskantha, Gujarat.
The central government transferred Rs 18,690 crore to the accounts of over 9.34 crore farmers across the country. Under the scheme, one member of each eligible farmer family receives Rs 6,000 per year in three instalments of Rs 2,000 each.
Prime Minister Modi launched the scheme in February 2019. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in a post on X, thanked the prime minister on behalf of the farmers for this gift ahead of Diwali.
"The prosperity of villages lies in the well-being of farmers, and the progress of the nation is inherent in the prosperity of villages. With this very resolve, today, the honourable Prime Minister @narendramodi ji has directly transferred more than Rs 18,690 crore as honorarium to the bank accounts of over 9.34 crore farmers across the country under the 24th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi from Banaskantha in Gujarat.
