Hotel owner shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, Mar 9: In a major security breach in the heart of Kishtwar town, an influential and reputed hotel owner was shot dead by some unidentified gunmen in Bus Stand posh locality area behind the Jamia Masjid.
As per the details available with 'Early Times', businessmen and hotel owner of "Dar Hotel" namely Ishtaq Ahmed Dar (48 years) son of Ghulam Rasool Dar resident of Semna colony Kishtwar was shot at by some unidentified gunmen from a close range with 8 MM Chinese pistol at around 8.30 PM when he was returning home on his motorcycle.
The eyewitnesses said that there was no electricity in the area when the incident took place outside the house of veteran Congress leader Sheikh Ghulam Haider situated behind Jamia Masjid Kishtwar adjacent to renowned Islamia School Kishtwar.
The eyewitnesses said that after hearing a gunshot there was a panic in the area following which some neighbours saw the deceased laying in a pool of blood and brought the matter into the notice of Kishtwar police who immediately rushed to the spot and shifted the deceased to hospital where doctors declared him as brought dead.
The gunmen had hit the deceased in the middle of his forehead which suggested that he was fired from a close range. Senior police officers including SP Kishtwar Abrar Chowdhary, DySP DAR Manoj Kumar, SHO Police Station Kishtwar also rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. During the search at the spot, the police found a live bullet of 8 MM pistol.
As soon as the incident took place, the family members, friends and the people in large number rushed to the hospital and showed their anger over the killing of the deceased in the heart of town.
The angry people raised slogans against the Kishtwar police and demanded immediate arrest of the killers involved in the gruesome killing of Dar.
A senior police officer said it is premature to comment at this stage of investigation that whether the incident was a murder or had some links to militancy related killing. He said that police is investigating the case on all possible angles.
He said that FSL team has been summoned by the police form Jammu to assist in the investigation. The police has also intensified the vigil in the town and its adjoining areas and the situation is said to be tensed, but in control.
The unconfirmed reports said that traders association has called for a shutdown tomorrow in protest against the killing of Dar who is also the owner of a mega shopping complex at the Bus Stand Kishtwar.
Meanwhile District Police has constituted a Special Investigation Team to investigate the murder to be head by SP Kishtwar while Dy. SP Operation Nazir Ahmed Khowja, Senior Prosecuting Officer Mansoor Ahmed Sheikh, SHO Police Station Kishtwar, SHO Chatroo Haji Mohammad Bashir, Head Constable Abdul Hamid are said to be the members of the team.
The body of the deceased was shifted to hospital mortuary room and will be handed over to the family members only after conducting the autopsy and finalizing of all legal formalities.
