Beti bachao, padhao slogans a hoax
Young girls made to sit on floor at an event organized by IRCS in Reasi

Early Times Report
Jammu, May 8: Slogans like beti bachao, beti padhao have just proved to be a mere rhetoric as the people at the helm have no respect for the daughters of the nation.
Recently Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) organized an event at mini secretariat in Reasi. Instead of making proper seating arrangements for the young girls, they were made to sit on the floor in front of the bureaucrats and other officials.
The photo of the young girls being made to sit on floor has gone viral on the social networking sites and what's up groups. "Making young girls sit on the floor is not acceptable. The organizers and the officials who participated in the event should be served the show cause notice and asked to explain their positions," opined an analyst.
He said, "The organizers and participants sat on chairs with the girls sitting in the middle of the tables."
An observer said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi often talks about respect and dignity of the women folk. "On the other hand Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti who has got the distinction of being the first women Chief Minister of the state should take stern action against the people who made a mockery of the women folk so that it serves as deterrent for others," he added.
He said that it's not the first incident where the women folk have been humiliated many such incidents have been reported in the past. "Till date no visible action has been taken against the people who have humiliated the women folk."
A critic said, "Slogans like beti bachao, beti padhao are raised just to hoodwink the people. Unfortunately the politicians are just playing politics over this issue and nothing has been done on the ground to elevate the status of the women folk."
He said, "The officials who attended the event could have opened their mouth to at least ask the organizers to make the girls sit properly but they didn't do so. It's unfortunate that whenever such incidents are reported people at the helm close their eyes and ignore it."
