Junior docs at GMC without stipend for last 2 months
9/13/2018 10:25:50 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 13: The non-Public Service Commission (PSC) Post Graduate, Registrars, and demonstrators of the various departments of the Government Medical College and Hospital and its associated hospitals are doing their duties without stipend for last two months.
Moreover, the administration of the GMC Jammu claimed that they were working on the issue and it will be solved as soon as possible.
A number of PGs, seeking anonymity told Early Times that there were hundreds of the Non-PSC doctors, who were working in the various departments without stipend, creating huge difficulties for budding doctors especially for those who belonged to far-flung areas of the State.
The junior doctors claimed that they had approached Concerned Head of Departments (HoDs) and Principal/ Dean of the Medical College Jammu and requested him to do the needful. "They gave only assurances but the assurances were not helping us meeting our day to day expenditures" they said.
Expressing resentment against the concerned authority, the junior doctors of the different departments wore black ribbons.
"I don't know the said doctors held any kind of protest by wearing the black ribbon in the college," Principal of GMC Jammu Dr. Sunanda Raina said. She claimed that the matter of the stipend has already been taken up with Director Finance as well as newly appointed Principal Secretary H&ME for redressal.
