Kathua admin organizes rallies on day-2 of special event series
'Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav'

KATHUA, Mar 31: On the second day of its special event series, District Administration Ksthus today organized rallies to highlight the spirit of National Integration here under 'Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav' celebrations.
In the first event, Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Yadav flagged off a group of cyclists in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.
The Cycle rally started from Government Degree College for Women, Kathua comprising young students and residents, moved towards the Keerian Gandyal Bridge and culminated back at the starting point.
The DC, while interacting with participating Cyclists, said that the objective of the Cycle rally was to encourage youth to adopt a healthy lifestyle and channelize their energy in a constructive way. He said the healthy youth is an asset for any country and key contributor in nation building. He asked them to get inspired from the contribution of freedom fighters and always strive for maintaining unity and amity within communities.
Later in the day, a 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao', rally under the aegis of ICDS Kathua unit, was organized which was flagged off by President, MC Kathua, Naresh Sharma from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park. Additional Deputy Commissioner Atul Gupta; ASP Ramnish Gupta and DPO, ICDS were also present.
The rally, comprising Anganwadi Workers, started amid chanting slogans like 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and 'Ghar Ghar Sandesh Pohnchana Hai, Beti Ko Bachana Hai' and holding placards of female freedom fighters, passed through several areas of the town and ended at Government Degree College for Women- the venue of the special Photo Exhibition.
President, MC Kathua Naresh Sharma expressed hope that the spree of events organized by District Administration will educate masses about the importance of 'Save the Girl Child' campaign and propagate the contribution of female freedom fighters in the national freedom struggle.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Atul Gupta said that the district administration has taken a string of initiatives to involve stakeholders in the celebration of 'Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav' for which a five day activity calendar has been launched to make it a people's campaign. He appealed to people to visit the venue of the Photo Exhibition and have a pictorial glimpse of the Indian freedom movement.
