\Poonch: Forest Division retrieves 593 kanal of land recorded as State land
4/1/2021 12:15:55 AM
Early times Report

Jammu, Mar 31: Forest Division Poonch has started installation of forest boundary pillar on prime forest land, officials said on Wednesday.
They said that the demarcations have started in Khasra no. 228 compartment no. 55/H village Mandi opposite Dak Banglow under supervision of DFO Poonch Mohan Choudhary IFS. They said that the drive was started after a joint Nishandeyi was conducted by staff of Revenue & Forest Departments. Khasra no. 228 area measuring 593 kanal, is a demarcated forest under possession & management of the Forest Department. However, it was recorded as state land with kism Ghair-mumkin-Charand in RoR 1961-62. Demarcation records of forest dully prepared by Forest Settlement Officer (Revenue Officer) during settlement & demarcation in year 02-11-1960 but the same has not been entered in revenue records.
Since 1961-62, difference of status of land in revenue & forest record of said khasra, resulted into many attempts of encroachment upon prime forest land adjoining Mandi town. The area is highly slide prone/shooting stone zone and has resulted it into turning barren and rocky. Google Earth image of 2010 & 2021 shows that the efforts of the Forest Department have resulted in transformation of land in khasra no. 228 as dense forest and good habitation of wildlife.
In order to effectively protect forest land (green space) adjoining town from any kind of encroachment or damage to forest crops in garb of any illegal records or absence of record reconciliation, DFO Poonch has continuously pursued for needful revenue entry in favour of forest department through records reconciliation in the light of directions of Advisor dated 15-10-2018 regarding records reconciliation & SAVE PIL No. 25/2017. Accordingly after analyzing demarcation records, revenue Aks/Latha & Google earth images, DC Poonch has finally passed an order for requisite entry in favour of the forest department in revenue records.
Demarcation is very essential to verify & record the status of land. It helps in settling unnecessary future illegal claims and to help in effective protection of forest through check on encroachment & illegal damage to forest crop. In such manner, through records reconciliation & installation of BP’s, joint efforts are being made by revenue department & forest department in protection of forest land.
