Jammu, Nov 14: Deaf and dumb people staged a protest here on Sunday demanding separate quota in the Class-IV jobs.
Carrying placards “fix separate merit for deaf and dumb” they appeared on the streets and staged a silent protest. A person who spoke on their behalf told reporters that it’s unfortunate that deaf and dumb candidates were asked to appear for the written test for the Class-IV posts. “According to Handicap Act 84 seats should have been reserved for the deaf and dumb persons in the handicapped quota, but no consideration was given to it and they were ignored completely,” he said.
“The government has completely ignored deaf and dumb persons and ahs left them in lurch. The Class-IV posts were announced in a haphazard manner and no provision was kept for this category of candidates. The government needs to devise a mechanism for these poor people so that they are able to live their lives in a dignified way,” he added. |
