LG has no time to chair SFC’s BoD meeting, allege contractors
‘Commissioner locks his room from outside to avoid meeting us’

Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 2: Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Forest Corporation Contractors Association, Altaf Hussain Keen has alleged that the lackadaisical attitude of the administration led by Lieutenant Governor has pushed them to brink.
Keen said, “Our grievances are not being heard nor are we being given any opportunity to put forth our issues.”
He said, “We had approached the secretariat to meet the Commissioner Secretary Forest but he didn’t meet us. The room was locked from outside and despite him sitting inside his chamber we were told he is not in the office.”
He said, “The grievance which we had sent for redressal was not even checked and marked to Managing Director SFC, who has no powers to address our issues.”
Keen said, “No one is listening to us. We had thought that revocation of Article 370 will bring revolution but it has added to our woes.”
He said, “Our demand about increasing the rates has been pending since 2019. Our payment files have been pending for a long time. Payment of contractors in cores is pending with the government.”
He said, “There are no checks and balances in the State Forest Corporation. This department falls in the control of Lieutenant Governor but it seems he has no time to chair the meeting of the Board of Directors for the past two years. We have a chairman (Commissioner Secretary Forests) who locks his room from outside and sits inside to avoid meeting us.”
