Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Apr 12: The people at helm in Jammu & Kashmir do not stop in making claims that people of Kashmir valley would be provided round the clock power supply during the holy month of Ramadhan. The situation on ground is totally different with people suffering like anything.
The residents of Usmanabad-Ompora in Central Kashmir’s Budgam are without the power supply since the past one week. Repeated requests to the officers, officials and the administration have fallen on deaf ears with no action being taken so far. This has infuriated the locals more so since the holy month of Ramadhan is going on.
The electricity transformer developed snag a week back and it was sent for repairing to the workshop. The PDD Budgam division has told the people to give up the demand for the transformer saying that it would take ages to get the repairs done.
The department is demanding money from the people for repairs and the people are in fact process of collecting the money.
The locals said that since January 1, 2022 the area has witnessed continuous power supply for 27 years and on rest of the days there has been total darkness.
They said that issue of frequent breakdown of the transformer was brought into the notice of the department and civil administration but no action has been taken so far. They demanded intervention from LG Manoj Sinha in this regard.
