Monumental blunder rectified
11/15/2022 11:13:59 PM

Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju recently mounted a fresh attack on the country’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru by stating that Nehru moved the United Nations under the wrong Article after Pakistan’s invasion, thereby making it a party to the dispute instead of an aggressor.
“Nehru let the myth of a UN-mandated plebiscite perpetuate and created the divisive” Article 370 of the Constitution. Nehru rejected Maharaja Hari Singh’s plea to accede to India not just once but thrice,” Rijiju wrote on Twitter.
Had Jawaharlal Nehru not approached the United Nations Kashmir would never have been discussed in any forum. He created a monumental blunder by approaching the United Nations.
For 70-years people of J&K were told by the politicians that Kashmir is an issue and it needs to be resolved. Nehru’s decision to approach the UN first and then accord sanction to Article 370, a temporary provision in the Constitution, did no good to Jammu and Kashmir.
It took seven decades for the Centre to bite the bullet and end the so-called special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
The bold decision taken by the regime led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to abrogate Article 370 led to complete integration of J&K with the Union of India and since then J&K has not looked back. J&K’s transition into a Union Territory has proven to be a blessing for the people as it has witnessed tremendous progress during the past three years.
The development projects which were incomplete have been completed and foundation stones of many new projects have been laid. The benefits of the centrally sponsored schemes are reaching directly to the people as the biggest impediment i.e. Article 370 in J&K’s development has been removed.
The Article 370 promoted separatism and was responsible for sowing the seeds of discord. It promoted the idea of a separate state within the state. And India paid a heavy price for the decisions that were taken by the late Jawahar Lal Nehru. The mistakes that were committed in the past stand rectified and things have been sorted out. People of J&K are moving ahead, so is their region.
The decisions that were taken on August 5, 2019, are irreversible and people of J&K have supported each and every move made by PM Modi led dispensation. New chapter has been written in the history of J&K.
