Within 2 months, scams tarnish AAP’s Punjab report card | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 3: Even as the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab had produced its “report card” of seven months of “good governance” in October, the same has allegedly got tarnished with at least two scams being reported from the neighboring state within two months. On October 16, the Punjab government had formally released its report card. Presenting the report card, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora had said the state government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had “ushered a new era of politics in the state by eliminating the corruption and mafia culture patronised by previous government in the past seven decades.” Since then, however, two major scams have been reported against the same AAP government. While one of the cases of corruption has gone infamous as “promotion scam”, the other one is the “recruitment scam.” In the case of the promotion scam, around fifty percent of the aspirants who were shown as the failed in the written exam were declared as qualifiers subsequently in reevaluation for the promotion for the post of Naib Tehsildar. The AAP is facing severe embarrassment for having declared “such big number of failed candidates as qualifiers to be Naib Tehsildar.” As per the reports, it’s a multi crore scam with many staging protests while most of the senior ministers of the AAP have been camping in Gujarat for electioneering and to tell the people that the “Kejriwal model is doing wonders in Punjab.” The other multi-crore scam in news is about the recruitment of the Naib Tehsildars. While the police have filed a case into the multi-crore scam, initial inquiry suggests that “hefty amount was taken from the favorites even to get their written exams cleared.” The exam was held after the AAP government came to power. A senior official told the Early Times on the condition of anonymity that the use of political pressures from the AAP government to “hush up the cases cannot be ruled out.” “AAP people can go to any extent to pretend to be honest and upright which in reality is not the story,” he said. Despite repeated attempts the AAP people couldn’t be contacted for comments. |
