Early Times Report

Srinagar, Jan 21: J&K authorities on Saturday issued avalanche warning for 10 districts of the union territory that have witnessed moderate snowfall over the past 48 hours.
The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) issued a 'medium danger' avalanche warning for central Kashmir's Ganderbal district.
Avalanche with medium danger level is likely to occur above 2500 metres over Ganderbal district in next 24 hours, SDMA said.
And avalanche with low danger level is likely to occur above 2500 metres over Anantnag, Bandipora, Baramulla, Doda, Kishtwar, Kulgam, Kupwara, Poonch and Ramban districts in next 24 hours, SDMA added.
The SDMA advised people living in these areas to take precautions and avoid venturing in the avalanche prone areas.
Two labourers from Kishtwar died on January 12, when a massive snow avalanche hit Serbal village close to the under construction tunnel in Sonmarg area of Ganderbal. Two days later another snow avalanche hit the area and according to officials it transported about 50,000 metric cubes of snow.
