Srinagar, May 11: Senior leader of Peoples Conference Abid Ansari on Thursday lashed out at Apni Party president Altaf Bukhari for his statement targeting Shia community.
Ansari while talking to Early Times said, “It’s not for the first time that Bukhari has targeted the Shia community, he has done it earlier also. At that point of time we had ignored his utterances, but this time he has crossed the line by talking against our Imams. It’s unacceptable and we won’t tolerate it.”
Ansari said, “He (Bukhari) has hurt the sentiments of the entire Muslim community, not only Shias. He can’t say that if someone is hurt and I regret, he has hurt the sentiments of all.”
The senior PC leader said, “Altaf Bukhari should do tauba (repent). He should be sent to a madrassa and taught Islam.”
Ansari said, “Our community is not for violence. Our Imams have taught us patience.”
He said that Bukhari is playing “dirty politics” to remain relevant. “A probe should be ordered to ascertain why Altaf Bukhari gave such a statement. What was his motive,” Ansari said. |
