Early Times Report

Jammu, May 27: The stabbing and chain snatching incident created fear among residents of the holy town of Katra as criminals are fearlessly committing crimes in this town after repeated intervals.
Days after the mysterious death of a young girl in a hotel, two chain snatchers snatched a gold chain worth from a poor labourer from the New Bus Stand area of this town.
Not only the gold chain was snatched from the poor man but the criminals also stabbed him with a sharp-edged weapon when he raised an alarm to seek help from the people.
Giving details about the incident fear-stricken, Rajesh Ram, a resident of Bihar, presently putting up at Katra, said that two persons snatched his gold chain when he came out of the bathroom.
“As soon as I came out of the bathroom, two persons caught me. One of them fished out a sharp-edged weapon and the second one snatched my golden chain with no time”, Rajesh Ram narrated, adding, “This incident has happened in the presence of many people”.
The helpless labourer further revealed that he recognized the snatchers because they used to come here to play cricket. “I am living here for the last four-five years so I recognized both of them”, he said.
Rajesh Ram further said that he will lodge a formal report with the police.
When contacted SHO Katra told The Early Times that the victim has yet not approached the police. “We will start investigation in the matter after registration of report in this regard”, he said.
