GDC Darhal organizes three-day Yoga mahotsav

JAMMU, June 21: GDC Darhal, in line with the national celebration of International Day of Yoga on June 21st each year since 2015, organized a three-day Yoga Mahotsav from June 19th to 21st, 2023. The event was themed "Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam," reflecting the collective aspiration for "One Earth, One Family, One Future." This initiative was held under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, G20, and Mission Life.
Over 50 NSS volunteers from the college, including faculty members, enthusiastically participated in the event. On the first day, the volunteers and staff took a pledge to incorporate yoga into their lives, practicing it regularly with their families and friends while encouraging others to adopt a healthy lifestyle through yoga. Subsequently, NSS volunteers ventured out to raise awareness among the masses about the benefits of yoga as a comprehensive approach to physical and mental well-being.
The event featured various activities, including poster, essay, and quiz competitions on the subject of yoga held on June 20th. NSS volunteers showcased their artistic skills and knowledge of different yoga asanas that enhance immunity, confidence, and the pursuit of a joyful life. On June 21st, yoga activities such as asanas, pranayama, and meditation were organized by students, staff, and their families, promoting holistic rejuvenation of the body, mind, and soul.
The event was successfully coordinated under the guidance of Prof. Mussaraf Hussain Shah, the Principal of the college. Prof. Shah highlighted the benefits of yoga in maintaining balance, happiness, and positivity in life. Dr. Sunil Kumar Mangoch served as the NSS Program Officer, leading the overall coordination of the program, with support from committee members Dr. Ahsan Ul Rehman Rizvi, Dr. Imtiaz Hussain Shah, Prof. Makhdoom Ahmed, and Prof. Tahir Mahmood.
Certificates were awarded to active participants, including Waqar Ahmed, Mousin Raja, Ghulam Jeelani, Saheez Ahmed, Mohd. Sheraz, Sayra Jabeen, Mahboob Sadeq, Nazarit Hussain, Murshad Ali, and Aleena Anjum, in recognition of their engagement and contribution to the event.
