Jammu, Sept 5: The Jammu and Kashmir administration is likely to go for a major reshuffle in the civil and the police administration soon.
Sources said it would be the first such major reshuffle of 2023 wherein some of the officials at key postings would be transferred.
The sources said a decision in this regard has been taken after a briefing from the Union government that there was “need for the reshuffle to uphold the deliverance of good governance.”
The sources privy to the development said a meeting in this regard was likely to be called soon whereby apart from the heads of the departments, the Senior Superintendents of Police of various districts and the District Development Commissioners would also be transferred.
The sources said the “transfers will pave way for more of reshuffle that would be done by the central government.”
Sources said last week some of the top officials from the Jammu and Kashmir administration had visited the national capital to “clarify on some issues that have surfaced in the Union Territory including the situation in Jammu and some administrative complaints.”
The sources said the officials were told by the Union government that there was a need to go for the reshuffle and that the same should have been actually done much earlier.
A senior official said this time the transfers would be done after “statistical and other analysis” of the performance of the officials.
Sources said “some of the officials are to be sidelined following complaints and that the same would part of the transfers to be done.”
A senior official in the know of the matter said the central government has sought compliance to the issue of transfers along with details of which official or official would be posted where and why.
