Jammu girls secure bronze in Junior National Soft Tennis Championship

VIJAYAWADA, Oct 23: In a remarkable display of talent and dedication, Sidhani Singh of Jammu, in partnership with Shreemai Bhat, clinched a bronze medal in the doubles category at the 18th Junior National Soft Tennis Championship, held at the Tennis Complex in the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. The dynamic duo, Sidhani Singh and Shreemai Bhat, secured a decisive 3-0 victory over their opponents during the championship, which took place from October 15th to 19th, 2023. Their journey to the bronze was marked by impressive victories, including triumphs over teams from Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh in the preceding rounds.
This remarkable achievement has not only brought glory to Jammu and Kashmir but also highlighted the exceptional talent within the region on a national platform. The Jammu and Kashmir Amateur Soft Tennis Association (JKASTA) applauded Sidhani Singh's performance as yet another milestone achieved by a gifted athlete from the area on the national stage.
Asif Altaf, the Incharge General Secretary of JKASTA, expressed his felicitations to these promising players in Jammu. He emphasized that their victory serves as a significant morale boost for young, aspiring athletes in Jammu, inspiring them to excel in their chosen sports. Altaf noted that this achievement will motivate the youth to embrace soft tennis and uphold the values of sportsmanship and healthy competition.
Asif Altaf also commended both players for bringing honor to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and underlined that their success will undoubtedly encourage others to follow in their footsteps.
It's worth mentioning that Sidhani Singh had previously secured a bronze medal in the Senior Soft Tennis National Championship, while Shreemai Bhat had earned a silver medal in the Sub-Junior Nationals.
Asif Altaf extended his gratitude to the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, particularly its Secretary, Nuzhat Gul, for their unwavering support to the budding athletes and the association as a whole.
Both Sidhani Singh and Shreemai Bhat, along with other sports enthusiasts, receive training under the guidance of International player and Coach, Indu Bhushan Padha, at the Soft Tennis Khello Center located in MA Stadium.
