10/30/2023 11:10:22 PM

Early Times Report

Srinagar, Oct 30: With a bullet hitting his head a young and dedicated police officer is battling for life at Intensive Care Unit (ICU), of SKIMS, Soura in Srinagar.
J&K Police Inspector Masroor Ahmed Wani, of Eidgah, Narwara Yechpora, posted in Srinagar District Police Lines (DPL) was shot at by a terrorist from a close range when he was playing cricket at Eidgah playground in Srinagar’s old city on Sunday. Masroor has a wife and a little daughter back home. The officer was playing a cricket match with friends and fellow officers on a sunny Sunday afternoon, as the joyous atmosphere abruptly turned into a scene of horror when a sudden burst of gunfire rang out, leaving Masroor wounded seriously.
According to the locals chaos erupted on the cricket field as the officer was running between the wickets and removing his glove, when suddenly a volley of bullets was sprayed across the ground, injuring him critically.
The rapid response of his colleagues and friends saved his life as they rushed him to a nearby hospital in a desperate bid to stabilize him.
As news of the incident spread, locals expressed their shock and sympathy for the officer and his family.
Meanwhile, hospital sources said that the condition of Inspector Masroor is critical and he has a bullet injury in his head, while he is being observed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of SKIMS Soura. “He is under constant observation and we are hopeful about his recovery,” the sources said. “His vitals haven’t deteriorated further.”
As a fallout from Sunday’s terror attack security has been beefed up with frisking in Srinagar city, the establishment of mobile check-posts, and thorough checking of vehicles and individuals at different places in Srinagar.
