Clear message to PDP: Omar to kickstart campaign for Anantnag LS seat from Nowshera
11/29/2023 11:33:17 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 29: After launching direct attacks on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the former Chief Minister and vice president of the National Conference Omar Abdullah is going to start the campaign for the Anantnag Lok Sabha elections from the Nowshera assembly segment.
Omar Abdullah will address a public meeting at Nowshera on December 2 to mark the beginning of the campaign for the Lok Sabha elections.
Nowshera is the only Hindu majority assembly segment in the newly carved Anantnag Lok Sabha constituency.
The entire Poonch district and Rajouri, Nowshera, and Thanna Mandi Assembly constituencies of Rajouri district are part of the Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary seat. Anantnag, Kulgam, and Shopian districts will be part of this seat from South Kashmir.
By choosing the Nowshera assembly segment to start the election campaign, Omar Abdullah wants to give a message to the ruling BJP as well as PDP which is a constituent of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA).
PDP leadership is hoping that the National Conference will leave Anantnag Lok Sabha for the party to give a united fight to the BJP.
Sources said that NC leadership, especially Omar Abdullah, has decided not to leave any Lok Sabha seat for the PDP in the coming Parliamentary elections.
In the 2019 general elections, the NC had won all three seats of Kashmir Valley including Anantnag so the party is not ready to leave any seat for PDP.
Secondly, Omar Abdullah will give a message to the BJP by addressing a rally at Nowshera which is the home constituency of J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina.
As reported earlier, after delimitation boundaries of all five Lok Sabha seats have changed. The entire Poonch district and areas of Rajouri district have become part of South Kashmir with the creation of the Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat. This has assured parity in the Parliamentary seats with Jammu and Kashmir divisions having two and a half seats each.
