SKUAST-J Scientists showcase research excellence at ISA national symposium in Goa

GOA, Nov 29: Goa, November 28, 2023: Scientists from Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J), led by Prof. B.N. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-J, presented their cutting-edge research at the XXII biennial national symposium on "Climate Smart Agronomy for Resilient Production Systems and Livelihood Security" organized by the Indian Society of Agronomy in Goa. The event witnessed the esteemed presence of Sh. P.S. Sreedharan Pillai, the Governor of Goa, as the chief guest, and Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Director General of ICAR and Secretary DARE, as the guest of honor.
During the symposium, Prof. Vikas Sharma shared his research on the "Short-term Influence of High Cropping Intensity on Soil Carbon," highlighting the impact of cropping intensity on soil carbon levels. Prof. A.P. Singh presented his work on the "Evaluation of Maize-based Cropping Systems for Higher Productivity & Resource Utilization under Rainfed Subtropics of Jammu," emphasizing sustainable agricultural practices in rainfed regions. Dr. Vivek M. Arya presented research on the "Effect of Ultra-High-Intensity Systems on Nitrogen Pools and Phosphorus Fractions," co-authored by Dr. B.C Sharma, Monika Meenia, Dr. Amrish Vaid, and Dr. Manish Sharma. Dr. Rohit Sharma, Jr. Scientist, discussed his work on "Integrated Farming Systems for Enhanced Productivity for Farmers of Jammu." Dr. Ajay Gupta, Sr. Scientist in Agronomy, presented findings on the "Performance of Pearl Millet Varieties."
The symposium, attended by over 450 delegates from across the country, provided a platform for sharing and discussing advancements in climate-smart agronomy. Distinguished attendees included Prof. Punjab Singh, Former Director-General ICAR and Secretary DARE, Chancellor Rani Lakhsmi Bai, Central Agricultural University, Jhansi, Dr. Suresh Kumar Chaudhari, DDG-ICAR(NRM), Dr. Rajbir Singh, ADG Crop Science, Dr. B.R. Kamboj, VC, CCSHAU, Hisar, Dr. J.V.N.S. Prasad, PC, AICRPDA, ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad, Dr. A.K. Vyas, Vice-Chancellor, Agriculture University, Kota, Rajasthan, Dr. N.K. Jain, Principal Scientist.
