5-year old dies at Children Hospital; family alleges negligence

Srinagar, Jan 29: A family from Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday alleged that their 5-year old son died due to the “negligence” of doctors at Children Hospital here.
The family alleged medical negligence claiming that ‘inexperienced’ doctors who are at the helm of affairs in this vital hospital are ‘incompetent’ and those who run the show are devoid of any ‘empathy and mercy.’
The 5-year-old child identified as Ehsan Mohuiddin Thakar son of Ghulam Mohiuddin, of Kutbal, Pahadpora Chadoora died on Monday morning.
“Our son died due to sheer negligence of the doctors,” the parents alleged.
The deceased was being treated for acute pneumonia in the hospital for nearly a month.
Family members alleged that all the affairs in the hospital are managed by para-medical staff.

When contacted, Head of the Pediatrician Department at the Children Hospital, Dr Muzaffar told a Srinagar based news agency that a team will be constituted to know the facts. “Yes, we will probe the death of the kid. An inquiry will be ordered,” he said, adding that the kid was admitted to the hospital for a month and every doctor examined him.
“He (the child) was suffering from acute pneumonia and had surgery at another hospital,” he said.
