Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 18: The highly controversial remark of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Hindu Goddess “Shakti” snowballed into a big controversy as BJP dubbed the party as “anti-Hindu”.
Rahul Gandhi at the conclusion ceremony of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Mumbai that his party and the entire opposition are fighting against a Shakti (power).
“There is a word ‘Shakti’ in Hinduism. We are fighting against a Shakti. The question is, what is that Shakti. The soul of the King is in the EVM. This true. The soul of the King in the EVM and every institution of the country, in ED, CBI and Income Tax department.”, he said. Rahul Gandhi's comment ignited a fierce political debate just as India gears up for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
This remark immediately drew criticism from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), with Prime Minister Modi himself labeling it as misogynistic and anti-Hindu. He emphasized the importance of “Shakti” as embodied by every mother and daughter in the country.
BJP spokespersons accused Gandhi of being against “Nari Shakti” (women power) and criticized the Congress party for its alleged history of Hindu hatred. Other political figures, such as the Nishad Party’s chief and the chief priest of the Ram Temple, also condemned Gandhi's statement.
