Early Times Report

Srinagar, Mar 1: In December 2023, when Early Times reporter had told National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah that ET has learnt from its sources that his party has decided to field prominent Gujjar leader Mian Altaf from Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary constituency, Omar had mocked at the ET reporter saying, “Early Times kay sources pay jitna kam bharosa kiya jaya utna behtar hain (Early Times sources cannot be trusted).”
However, on Monday the National Conference announced that former minister and senior party leader Mian Altaf would contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls from Anantnag-Rajouri seat.
The announcement was made by none other than the NC vice-president Omar Abdullah.
“There will be no better candidate than Mian Alt

f for the Anantnag-Rajouri constituency, as he has never sought votes on religious or other lines. Mian Altaf has vast popularity across various segments of the society. His popularity would garner substantial support from the people.”
The NC giving mandate to Mian Altaf for all important Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat has vindicated the sources of Early Times and it should serve as an eye opener for the former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah, who had given a sweeping statement saying “ET sources cannot be trusted.”
He (Omar) himself announced Mian Altaf’s candidature thus proving that “Stories carried by Early Times are first verified then published and if any reporter poses a question to any dignitary it’s no wild guess but it’s based on credible inputs.”
