BJP to decide on Kashmir seats after polling in Jammu
4/21/2024 10:41:32 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 21: Facing criticism for not fielding candidates on three Lok Sabha seats of Kashmir Valley, the BJP is likely to decide on these seats after the completion of the polling process on the Jammu-Reasi Lok Sabha seat.
Highly placed sources said the party has decided not to field its candidates on three Lok Sabha seats in Kashmir but a strategy will be devised to ensure the defeat of coalition candidates in these Parliamentary segments.
“The central leadership has asked local leaders not to speak on the three seats of Kashmir Valley because a decision in this regard has to be taken by the high command”, sources said and some Kashmir-based political parties are in touch with the BJP to devise a strategy on these seats.
“There is the possibility that instead of openly declaring support to any political party, the BJP will maintain a silence”, sources said and added that the party leadership is exploring all possibilities on these seats.
“Instead of openly announcing support to any political party, the BJP leadership is likely to secretly ask its workers to support Apni Party candidates on Anantnag-Rajouri and Srinagar seats and Peoples’ Conference on Baramulla seat”, sources said.
Recently statements of Apni Party chief Altaf Bukhari and Peoples’ Conference chairman Sajad Gani Lone dropped hints of getting support of BJP in the Lok Sabha elections.
Apni Party and Peoples Conference are trying to support each other on three Parliamentary seats in Kashmir Valley.
It is believed that the Apni Party will support Sajad Lone on the Baramulla seat because the party has not announced any candidate on this seat.
Important to mention here that J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina on Saturday said that central leadership will devise a strategy for three Lok Sabha seats of Kashmir Valley.
He claimed that only BJP-supported candidates will win elections in Kashmir Valley.
“The candidates who have the blessing of BJP will emerge victorious on three Lok Sabha seats of Kashmir Valley”, Raina said on Saturday and claimed that the BJP has a strong base in different parts of the Valley.
